"The OMG network is a scaling solution for finance on Ethereum, enabling transparent, peer-to-peer transactions in real-time. The decentralised network facilitates self-sovereign financial services across geographies, asset classes and applications."
OmiseGO is a subsidiary of Omise, an online payment gateway service provider in Southeast Asia. Omise recognised the need for decentralised infrastructure to transfer large volumes of transactions at low cost.
OMG tokens were first publicly offered in 2017, quickly raising in excess of the USD $25 million target through pre-sales alone. OMG is an ERC20 standardised Ethereum token, with plans to launch its own blockchain in the future.
The OMG network also aspires to provide banking and payment platforms to help "bank the un-banked" world; the billions of people across the world without access to traditional banking systems.
