BTC Markets is pleased to announce the appointment of Caroline Bowler as CEO, effective from Wednesday, 29 January 2020.
BTC Markets was founded in Sydney, NSW in 2013. It is the largest, most liquid, Australian digital currency exchange with 260,000 Australian customers trading more than AU$8 billion.
Interest is growing in the sector with the recent Reserve Bank of Australia announcement on their simulated trials of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
Jarrod Crane, BTC Markets director, said Ms. Bowler was chosen after an extensive and extremely competitive selection process. “Caroline was an outstanding candidate and a great fit for our organisation. This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for BTC Markets.” Jarrod said.
“As a highly experienced executive, Caroline will bring significant strategic capability to the role. Caroline has a clear vision for BTC Markets, with a deep understanding of fintech and blockchain technology.” Ms. Bowler is currently a Strategic Communications advisor with Blockchain APAC and an advisory board member with Tanggram Capital Pty Ltd. Prior to this role, Ms Bowler was Head of Asia Pacific with Red Flag Consulting; founder of Bowlah PR, the first Fintech-focused PR Agency in Asia-Pacific; and held positions with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Ireland and Singapore.
Previous announcements from BTC Markets include their successful partnership with Ripple for the On-Demand Liquidity platform in Australia which leverages the digital asset XRP as a bridge currency to eliminate the need for pre-funding in cross border payments.
Commenting on the appointment, Ms. Bowler said she was excited to be taking on the role.
“BTC Markets are the most trusted leader in the market with Australians placing over AU$8 billion in trades since 2013” she said.
“Our clients are assured by our complimentary asset protection fund, safe in the knowledge their crypto assets are secure. Our on-going priority is to look after the interests of our loyal customer base with continuous innovation and valued partnerships. My experience will drive our strategic direction, and ultimately our growth strategy for Australia and beyond. I look forward to working with industry stakeholders as we continue our key role, leading Australia towards a digital economy. “
BTC Markets anticipate further announcements to come over the year ahead. Ms. Bowler holds a Bachelor of Communications from Murdoch University, Perth Western Australia, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies from Griffith College, Dublin Ireland.
